MÁTRA

These andesite rocks are the evidence of vulcanic activity in Mátra mountain. There

are two crags on the western part of Mátra on the opposite sides of a valley,

Csókakõ and Báránykõ. The brown rocks become warm quickly in sunshine, so they are

very pleasant on cool spring and autumn days, but in summer...

The unique technical routes are moderate, but beautiful (III-VII). They are very

well-protected.

You can camp above the cliffs on the right side (Báránykõ). Water is from the

small spring near the path.

Getting there: from Pásztó to Mátrakeresztes by car, then follow the red trail to

the cliffs (10 min.).
