MÁTRA
These andesite rocks are the evidence of vulcanic activity in Mátra mountain. There
are two crags on the western part of Mátra on the opposite sides of a valley,
Csókakõ and Báránykõ. The brown rocks become warm quickly in sunshine, so they are
very pleasant on cool spring and autumn days, but in summer...
The unique technical routes are moderate, but beautiful (III-VII). They are very
well-protected.
You can camp above the cliffs on the right side (Báránykõ). Water is from the
small spring near the path.
Getting there: from Pásztó to Mátrakeresztes by car, then follow the red trail to
the cliffs (10 min.).
